Description:
Acquired in 2026. According to the seller, this machine was originally used in the offices of the New Zealand Dairy Board, then sat in someone's basement for several decades -- protected, luckily, by its original cover.
According to the 1980 article below from the Guardian newspaper, about 40% of all Imperial typewriters produced were shipped out from Mother England to the British colonies. (Article sourced from Robert Messenger's Oztypewriter blog, I'll add the link at some point.) This would be why Imperials are as common as fish and chips in New Zealand and not worth very much. American collectors could probably just try driving to Canada to snag one? I fear that I might fill my house with ten of these awesomely hideous giant green elephants cos they are so snappy.

On a shoestring budget in a typewriter desert. I'm a writer and I swear that I really do need these tools of the trade, all seven of them and counting. (Obviously still a beginner.)
Two hot takes: (1) Script typefaces, yuck. (2) The 1970s is an underrated decade for typewriters.
RESEARCH NOTE: When researching the Imperial 66 on a computer with lots of screen real estate, you may find that launching the Imperial Serial Number page and the Imperial 66 By Model/Year/Serial page in new browser windows can give you interesting perspectives on changes throughout the model series.
