1961 Hermes 3000 Serial # 3093927 1961 Hermes 3000 typewriter, Serial # 3093927 Plante and Doole-Fisher Typewriters's 1961 Hermes 3000 typewriter. 2018-03-06 From the Virtual Typewriter Collection of Plante and Doole-Fisher Typewriters: 1961 Hermes 3000 Serial # 3093927 This Hermes 3000 was a customer's which I cleaned and repaired. Oddly enough, this Hermes 3000 seems to suffer from a clear-coat problem, as even a single drop of water would stain the finish. However, after a few hours of thoroughly cleaning, despite it's issue, this typewriter came out very nice. These H3K's are very well build, with high-quality material. The sound-proofing in this machine is an inch thick, and it really works too. The machine is quiet, has a soft touch, and looks absolutely beautiful. The gentleman for whom I cleaned this machine will invest in a new platen from J.J. Short Supply Inc. as the current platen is original and rock-hard. Besides that, I only had to do minor repair to some linkages and the back-space and the machine now works flawless and types very nicely.
