1961 Blue Bird 18b Serial # 1207637 1961 Blue Bird 18b typewriter, Serial # 1207637 Tas Kyprianou's 1961 Blue Bird 18b typewriter. 2022-08-10 From the Virtual Typewriter Collection of Tas Kyprianou: 1961 Blue Bird 18b Serial # 1207637 I'd only typed seven words on it and I knew it was going to be one of the best machines in my collection.
INCREDIBLE!

This thing is a sports car of a typer. Fast, precise, loud, and a lot of fun. The praise you've read about them is all true.
This is a blindingly brilliant typer with an action and sound that makes you want to keep feeding paper into it.

Identical markings to my Smith Corona Clipper which is Elite 70 but this is a teensy bit larger somehow.

Relatively new to the hobby - December 2021.
The Linea 88 parts machine notwithstanding, my collection now consists of 23 machines.
My favourite machine - it's both the prettiest and the nicest to type on - is my 1939 Royal KMM. Until that came along just recently, my Underwood Universal was winning the beauty pageant albeit whilst having a podium tussle with my Smith Corona Clipper and my Remington Non-Tab Portable. Like Bagpuss, those two are both saggy and a bit loose at the seams but I love them. Having used the Adler Universal recently, I have to admit it is my second-best typer. Effortless. The BlueBird 18b, Hermes 3000 Mk 3, 2000, the FACIT TP1, and the other Olympia SMs regularly chomp at the heels of my top typers and I count my blessings am lucky enough to have collected such a beautiful bunch if I'm honest.
