Description:
That Smith-Corona! Not content with making very good typewriters, they also sold them with what may be the best and is surely the most innovative case: a non-denting, piano-hinged, aluminum-framed fiberglass case with a strong anchorage for the typewriter, ... and then they made the anchorage removable, so you can use the case as a small suitcase. Check out the last pics below. In later years, somebody in the company abandoned this classy feature.
The keyboard view shows the most accurate color.

While I find all of mankind's inventions interesting, I am most enchanted by the human-scale arts and devices, the ones that can be created (and repaired) in a home workshop or studio; the ones that can be understood by looking at them; the ones that do something useful or stir admiration. Typewriters work for me.
