Description:
It's not every day I get to add a new Smith-Corona model to the Database! But today is my lucky day. This rusty machine was donated to WordPlay Cincy by a woman who bought it for $5 at a yard sale. It's obviously just a Skyriter with a "jet-age" name and a pretty blue color. The date of 1960 is a guess based on 4Y Skyriters. My intuition is that this was made in the US, shortly before Skyriter production moved to England.

RESEARCH NOTE: When researching the Smith Corona Golden Shield Jetriter on a computer with lots of screen real estate, you may find that launching the Smith Corona Serial Number page and the Smith Corona Golden Shield Jetriter By Model/Year/Serial page in new browser windows can give you interesting perspectives on changes throughout the model series.
