Description:
Ahhh, the Dart, much like the old Dodge of the same name this typer looks great from a distance.
Named this one Bo Tanker, because despite being categorized an "ultraportable" it ain't. The big dumb lump of metal weighs in at...8 uncomfortable finger pinch, hard edged pounds. Feels like your typing on a brick. Plus this one has the light touch of an old school credit card embosser. "The knuckle buster". That might be a better name for this typewriter.
It arrived badly packed in a simple box and had shifted around a lot inside its body. The feet had rotted out and this rig bolts down to it's base plate, unbolted it all just slides around inside, so... now neither the shift release nor the spacebar work very well. I could/might consider this the machine I rip into to learn the ins and outs of typers. We'll see.

Another Gen-Xer who learned typing in High School on an IBM Selectric. Wrote a few college papers on the family's Royal HH and used a brother word processor with a daisy wheel to get my BA. Now a psychotherapist who still has the HH and has added a few awesome friends to the growing collection of mini printing presses..
RESEARCH NOTE: When researching the Royal Dart on a computer with lots of screen real estate, you may find that launching the Royal Serial Number page and the Royal Dart By Model/Year/Serial page in new browser windows can give you interesting perspectives on changes throughout the model series.
