Description:
This typewriter, probably made in East Germany, has Cyrillic keys/typeface. I believe Rheinmetall is the same company that also makes tanks and other weapons. This is therefore understandable why his typewriter, though surprisingly lightweight, just 6.5 kilos, has the look and feel of heavy metal.

I'm an archaeologist who writes heritage books and collects Japanese ceramics as well as quite a number of typewriters that I've acquired through purchase or as gifts over the last 10 years in the Philippines as well as in the US and Japan.
I'm currently a visiting professor at a university in Japan and it is heaven here to see so many typewriters being auctioned online!
RESEARCH NOTE: When researching the Rheinmetall KsT on a computer with lots of screen real estate, you may find that launching the Rheinmetall Serial Number page and the Rheinmetall KsT By Model/Year/Serial page in new browser windows can give you interesting perspectives on changes throughout the model series.
