I acquired this as a dead machine. I was able to get it into a working, but not great condition. I eventually gave in and had it professionally serviced at Vale Typewriter. It is now a great typer, although not as good as the very best SG-1s.
Compared to the later versions of the SG-1, this machine has the straight-top tab control keys, and the full-height buttons for the backspace, margin release, etc.
Paper support and right-margin stop are field modifications, as those parts were missing/destroyed when I acquired the machine.
