195X Olympia 8 Serial # 906876 195X Olympia 8 typewriter, Serial # 906876 Little Typist's 195X Olympia 8 typewriter. 2025-03-07 From the Virtual Typewriter Collection of Little Typist: 195X Olympia 8 Serial # 906876 Large carriage and very heavy machine.
Due to the high SN, I guess it is one of the last Olympias made after the end of WW2.
Bought it for 30$. It was in a pretty bad condition, full of dirt and dust.
After cleaning, typebars and carriage levers move, but the entire typewriter still needs some fixes (carriage does not move when I press letters and spring mechanism seems loose; also, tabulator keys and side panels are missing).
Looking for tips on how to make it shiny and functioning again, as it occupies an entire desk in my office...

Large carriage and very heavy machine.

Very clever and handy platen turning system. Sadly, row selector needs a new knob and the clutch is not working... yet.

...and the serial number of the 70 cm long carriage. Please note that the guiding metal rod measures 103 cm, making the machine really impressive.
