Description:
195X Groma Kolibri rebranded for West Germany.
Will update with s/n next time I take the bottom panel off.
I bought this locally for $45 USD. It was already in decently good condition but needed usual cleaning. Years of nicotine buildup. I flushed the segment, degreased it, and waxed the paint finish. The platen ratchet release wheel was not working. I ended up taking the entire platen out and in the process the ratchet pawl and pivot came out, causing several hours of confusion while I tried to reverse engineer it. Once back together, and a black silk ribbon installed, I finally got to test it out.
There is a reason these are so desired. Beautiful, sleek design. The typing action is so far superior to my Skyriter that I am likely to sell that. The ribbon cover is very finicky to install which causes the return lever to drag across it if you're not careful. Came with a beautiful vinyl carrying case with intact handles and zipper. Will look forward to using this for many years to come.
