Description:
This machine has been taken home directly from the plant of Paillard by my grand-father, Charles Burla, in the 1950's, Then he give it to my mother and now I own it.
Probably a internal test machine (not for sale), as he was the head of manufacturing methodology at Paillard in Yverdon factory. It has the moulded bakelite corners.

Was born in 1968 in Yverdon, Switzerland. Was playing with typewriter parts when I was a kid, as my grand-father was working at Paillard Hermes from 1923 to 1963, designing tools and manufacturing process. A few years ago, I started to become curious on typewriters again, and enjoyed to disassemble and trying to reassemble parts as a side activity. I try to limit my collection to 10 - 15 typewriters that I can restore, get to know in detail and use for writing.
RESEARCH NOTE: When researching the Hermes 2000 on a computer with lots of screen real estate, you may find that launching the Hermes Serial Number page and the Hermes 2000 By Model/Year/Serial page in new browser windows can give you interesting perspectives on changes throughout the model series.
