Description:
Imperial Elite type
Dutch international keyboard
Found this in great shape in a little junk shop in Michigan. It has what I am guessing to be a Dutch international keyboard, as it has both $ and £ along with Dutch characters and 4 accent characters. Imperial Elite type (commonly called Congress Elite).

I started collecting typewriters in 2006, but what started it all was using my mother's Brother Student-Riter XL1 in 2004. The next year I received my grandma's Smith-Corona Silent, which was enough to hold me over for a little while but eventually led to an obsession with manual portable typewriters.
RESEARCH NOTE: When researching the Torpedo 18a on a computer with lots of screen real estate, you may find that launching the Torpedo Serial Number page and the Torpedo 18a By Model/Year/Serial page in new browser windows can give you interesting perspectives on changes throughout the model series.
