1959 Royal Royalite Serial # 4041097 1959 Royal Royalite typewriter, Serial # 4041097 LaDonna Qualtieri's 1959 Royal Royalite typewriter. 2023-12-18 From the Virtual Typewriter Collection of LaDonna Qualtieri: 1959 Royal Royalite Serial # 4041097 I liked the compact shape of this machine and the small details on the lettering of the typeface. It arrived in bad shape; some rust, no case, a broken/cut ribbon, very sad vibes. Eventually I was able to drop it off with Matt at Ace Typewriter in Portland (an amazing store full of wonder and mystery!) and then just waited. I called a moth later and Matt said it was ready! A friend who was headed to Portland brought it back to me today with instructions to let it air dry for a day or two. Matt had even found a sleeve style case for it! I did not wait and made the type sample immediately. Overall a good investment! Apparently the margins assembly had to be rebuilt- maybe that’s why the ribbon was broken on arrival. Who knows? I have many pen pals and correspond via handwritten and typed letters. I have a (painful) sitting disability and type while standing- UPDATE! I can also type on an ultraportable I set up on my bed. Typing and collecting machines with different typefaces keeps me busy and happily distracted from the difficulties in life-fountain pens, too, and I can write legibly, in cursive, while laying down. Join me on Type Pals and register for the monthly postcard exchanges. The “Cat Mews” is a quarterly publication of the philatelic topical group Cats On Stamps Study Unit (COSSU), for which I am a column contributor. My cats are Wiffle Wizard and Urushi (Rushi) Blizzard, aka the Blizzard Sisters.
