Description:
Probably my favorite out of almost 20 typewriters, this FP was a complete wreck mechanically when it arrived. This was a Goodwill auction find. It had a completely seized escapement and needed adjustments to just about everything that's adjustable, but man is it satisfying to type on now. Cosmetically it was dirty but almost perfect after a very thorough cleaning and a light buffing of the exterior paintwork. I removed all the old dead foam from the panels and replaced it with stick-on felt pads.
It's an Elite pitch machine and the platen is 10-3/8" which I think was the narrowest. Such a joy to use, but not to move around!
The sales sticker under the hood shows that it was sold in Nov. 1959 at Valley Typewriter Co. in Fresno, CA. Was awesome to find that little tag. The sold date looks to have been typed on this machine, naturally.

RESEARCH NOTE: When researching the Royal FP on a computer with lots of screen real estate, you may find that launching the Royal Serial Number page and the Royal FP By Model/Year/Serial page in new browser windows can give you interesting perspectives on changes throughout the model series.
