Description:
After my son caught the bug from me, I found this SM3 for him. By now I learned how to clean and service these. It was full of dust bunnies and the case was coated with, I think, cigarette smoke stains. The carriage release lever would not spring back after being pressed down.
It cleaned up great, and the lever only required a gentle bending back into position. I also replaced the little spring that was missing from the bell mechanism. (The carriage can freeze up from catching on that piece without the spring keeping it where it belongs.)
It's another beauty. Great touch, and the carriage slides more smoothly and quietly than my own SM3.
