Description:
This is a 1959 Olympia SG1 that I found on Ebay. Other than having a problem with the ribbon vibrator due to the fact that the typewriter and carriage were separated when it arrived and not packed properly, the whole thing still works. I'm not even sure if you can call this 1959. Mostly because unlike all the other typewriters on here that have a 7 before the serial number, mine has an 8. So I don't know if this is just a rarer or newer model than the others. But after doing some research on the serial number, it clearly has it at 1959. You can see the serial number in the pictures below. This thing is also quite heavy to type on even on the lowest setting, but I would definitely put this as my second most prized possession in my collection.

My name is TypewriterMan426. I am a typewriter collector and also write on functioning typewriters as a hobby. I currently own a couple of typewriters from different eras and own different brands. I hope to collect more in the future and hope to continue writing on these beautiful machines.
RESEARCH NOTE: When researching the Olympia SG1 on a computer with lots of screen real estate, you may find that launching the Olympia Serial Number page and the Olympia SG1 By Model/Year/Serial page in new browser windows can give you interesting perspectives on changes throughout the model series.
