This SG1 is a beast of a machine. It sat on the shelf for just over two years before I finally got around to giving it the love it deserved. For a standard, these are surprisingly easy to get apart and strip down to the bare essentials, in part because of the unique mechanism that allows you to pop the carriage off and on with the flip of two levers.
There are still some sticky keys left to deal with, but I fixed the detached linkage on the F key (lots of swearing and wishing I had another pair of hands involved) and it types like a champ. I'm so glad it has elite type, which I prefer over pica.

I've been collecting typewriters since 2010. I currently have 100+ machines in my possession. A little over half of them reside in my "personal" collection, while the rest are machines I intend to clean up for sale, or are long-term restoration projects (I'm looking at you, Olivers and Foxes!).
RESEARCH NOTE: When researching the Olympia SG1 on a computer with lots of screen real estate, you may find that launching the Olympia Serial Number page and the Olympia SG1 By Model/Year/Serial page in new browser windows can give you interesting perspectives on changes throughout the model series.
