Description:
Fascinating machine, but very complicated and and with a heavy stroke. I bought it from a former Olivetti Netherlands employee who told me that Graphikas often had problems, so much so that the owners often had them converted to Lexicons who were more reliable. This one had a problem with the spacing. There are 3 levers operating the spacing mechanism, with springs and all. One of the springs was misplaced and the spacing mechanism operated always in uppercase-mode. Pfff - took a while to figure that out.
But the typing result is spectacular :-)

1960. Forestry engineer and watchmaker by education. Working as IT guy (database and web) in the national office of an international NGO in Amsterdam.
Have always liked machines, mechanics and apparatus. Always fixing things.
Got infected with the typewriter virus in 2012 and discovered there is a lot on offer here in the Netherlands for reasonable prices. Storage space is an issue :-)
RESEARCH NOTE: When researching the Olivetti Graphika on a computer with lots of screen real estate, you may find that launching the Olivetti Serial Number page and the Olivetti Graphika By Model/Year/Serial page in new browser windows can give you interesting perspectives on changes throughout the model series.
