Description:
Antares was an Italian company that produced typewriters from mid-1950s to mid-1970s. It was headquartered in Milan and the factory was in Busto Arsizio. This P59 was a very flat late 1950s model with a special closure of the cover by two side buttons. Many were the Antares models produced but none of them, in my opinion, of great mechanical quality nor design interest.

I have been an Italian typewriter collector for many many years. At that time, I loved very old typewriters from late 1800s to early 1900s. After a break of a few years I returned to collect typewriters but no longer so old, I prefer now the design of the 40's, 50's and 60's. Yes, I am an affectionate collector of Olivetti, of course, but I'm attracted to all the other brands from that period, not just Italian.
RESEARCH NOTE: When researching the Antares P59 on a computer with lots of screen real estate, you may find that launching the Antares Serial Number page and the Antares P59 By Model/Year/Serial page in new browser windows can give you interesting perspectives on changes throughout the model series.
