This is the machine that almost permanently dissuaded me from ever buying another typewriter that needed to be shipped.
Assured by the seller that it would be well packaged, it arrived looking like someone had tossed a hand grenade in the box before it was sealed for transit. The carriage was literally torn from its rails, and combined with the ejected ribbon cover, the carnage created by those two loose parts was enough for me to initially consider the machine to be a complete loss.
However, after many hours of work the Torpedo was back in typing form, and I now view the remaining dents and dings as character. Although it functions well, because of the trauma it has endured it wouldn't be fair to assess this particular Model 20's performance.
