1958 Smith Corona Silent Super Serial # 5T633081X 1958 Smith Corona Silent Super typewriter, Serial # 5T633081X Stephen Hanafin's 1958 Smith Corona Silent Super typewriter. 2021-10-02 From the Virtual Typewriter Collection of Stephen Hanafin: 1958 Smith Corona Silent Super Serial # 5T633081X Acquired the beautiful 1958 (I think) Smith Corona Silent-Super in Alpine Blue from eBay this week. It survived its trip through the USPS unscathed and is in great working condition. All it needed was a fresh ribbon. It is missing the right-hand paper finger, but since it also has a paper bail that doesn't bother me too much.
This is my first manual 5-series Smith Corona and I have to say I really like the typing feel of this machine. Typeface is standard Pica.

Ribbon cover flipped up. I was surprised to find so much felt in there, and it wasn't even falling apart. It may have been replaced at some point since 1958.
