Purchased from someone near Ottawa, Ontario in 2024. Needs some cleaning still, a minor repair on the ribbon mechanism and the platen needs to be recovered. Even with all of that, it still feels great to type on!

I enjoy learning about typewriters, how they work, and how to care for them. I mainly use them for writing letters and journaling. I have a small collection of 10 or so manual typewriters, and most have a French-Canadian layout. It's nice when I don't have to manually add accents to letters afterwards (e.g., é, ê. ë, ç, ù, à, etc).
RESEARCH NOTE: When researching the Hermes 2000 on a computer with lots of screen real estate, you may find that launching the Hermes Serial Number page and the Hermes 2000 By Model/Year/Serial page in new browser windows can give you interesting perspectives on changes throughout the model series.
