Description:
Really a nice machine, but not the one I would recommend for writing that epic novel. Or addressing envelopes. Or to write a letter in proper 1930s style.
The Kolibri impresses with its flat appearance and solid feel. The typing action is light, albeit a bit wooden, but definitely pleasant and satisfactionary (as long as I don’t type too fast).
However. The small platen diameter makes it hard – if not impossible – to work with envelopes. The weak paper bail can barely press two sheets of regular copy paper against the platen. The absence of numbers on the paper bail makes any kind of text formatting quite inconvenient.
The good: impressive appearance and nice typing experience
The bad: can’t handle envelopes very well
The ugly: ridiculous pricing

I live in The Netherlands.
Most common typewriter brands over here are Triumph/Adler, Olympia, Erika, Olivetti, Remington and Brother.
I collect and restore typewriters to learn about their design and to write with them.
