Description:
Torpedo 30 typewriters exported to England were branded as Blue Bird. With WWII still fresh in the rearview mirror, a German machine named Torpedo was probably not a great selling feature. It's a nice typer but feels like a stripped down Torpedo 18 to me. No tabs and no "1" key. Pulling 2 levers under the machine releases the whole top to access the ribbon. The line spacing choices are 1 to 4.

Get to work!
I am a retired graphic artist and I began collecting typewriters in 2021. I like machines from the 50s and 60s. Other interests include music, film making, fly fishing and tinkering with classic VWs.
RESEARCH NOTE: When researching the Blue Bird Torpedo on a computer with lots of screen real estate, you may find that launching the Blue Bird Serial Number page and the Blue Bird Torpedo By Model/Year/Serial page in new browser windows can give you interesting perspectives on changes throughout the model series.
