Description:
Purchased for $25 on Facebook Marketplace. Margins were stuck when I auditioned it on the seller's front porch at 9 degrees. All the keys work, and with a light cleaning on the outside and a new ribbon, the machine types perfectly. It does not tabulate perfectly at the moment, but that is something that a bit of repair work around the escapement should remedy.
I do enjoy this large sense of momentum that these keys and this schreibemaschine contains. It glides well once set into motion, and the dense 1950s plastic of the keytops is definitely a plus for me. It has the small 11" carriage, which is enough for anything I might be typing at the moment.
Edit March, 2022: Machine has received a newly recovered platen from JJ Short. Tabulator was fixed, and this is an astonishingly capable machine.

I very much enjoy end of line hyphens.
My collection is used. Rotate through the whole stable on a regular basis.
Letter writing is the new blogging.
RESEARCH NOTE: When researching the Adler Universal on a computer with lots of screen real estate, you may find that launching the Adler Serial Number page and the Adler Universal By Model/Year/Serial page in new browser windows can give you interesting perspectives on changes throughout the model series.
