1957 Royal Companion Serial # RS-3721836 1957 Royal Companion typewriter, Serial # RS-3721836 Massimo Martelancz's 1957 Royal Companion typewriter. 2024-06-21 From the Virtual Typewriter Collection of Massimo Martelancz: 1957 Royal Companion Serial # RS-3721836 Although very similar, this Royal Companion typewriter appears to be a very simplified model compared to the little older Quiet de Luxe. Many features are missing: the tabulator, the "magic margin", the "touch control", the two paper support rods. Others are simplified, such as the change of direction of the ribbon operated by a hidden lever, the "Royal" logo, a simple poor decal. But the great mechanical Royal quality is still the same. I found inside the case the original warranty coupon of the time
with the purchase date June 22nd 1958. Interesting the two original tape cartridges, carefully opened to replace the tape and reassembled as originally.

I have been an Italian typewriter collector for many many years. At that time, I loved very old typewriters from late 1800s to early 1900s. After a break of a few years I returned to collect typewriters but no longer so old, I prefer now the design of the 40's, 50's and 60's. Yes, I am an affectionate collector of Olivetti, of course, but I'm attracted to all the other brands from that period, not just Italian.
