1957 Olympia SM2 Serial # 926005 1957 Olympia SM2 typewriter, Serial # 926005 Javier Vazquez del Olmo's 1957 Olympia SM2 typewriter. 2016-07-30 From the Virtual Typewriter Collection of Javier Vazquez del Olmo: 1957 Olympia SM2 Serial # 926005 This is an outstanding typewriter. I don´t know how to start if it´s not like this,

I got it at the fine price of 28€ including shipping, and it is one of the best of its kind. Everything is in awesome condition: the machine, the case, the action... maybe a new ribbon would be welcome, but it still works fine.

I´m pretty sure I´m going to use this machine a lot, since it´s extremely comfortable to use and reliable. The closest competitor I can find is the Torpedo 20, which is also incredible, but less user-friendly.

The most difficult part has been identification. I was convinced this was an SM3, so convinced that the typeface sampe is wrong and every photo is wrongly named as well, but upon closer look now I think it´s an SM2 because it doesn´t have tabulator. Anyway, I think I can live without a tabulator :D.

But this brings another problem... Now I´ll have to find a SM3!

No tabulator. That´s given me the clue to identify it.

The first typewriter I saw was my grandpa´s Olivetti Linea 98 at the office. It was just a curio for me. Then I was given a Nakajima, which I didn´t use and my grandfather took it from me because it was easier to handle than the bulky Linea 98. Now I own that typewriter, and I started a little collection in Valladolid, Spain. The Nakajima, which is "my" typewriter only returned home in 2017, almost 20 years later, when he wanted a better typewriter.

A collection that started small grew into something bigger, a nuisace for my family and a great source of satisfaction for me.
