Description:
The SG marathon continues.
Note the matching SNs.
This one had a return lever pulled out of its slot. This was an easy fix. However, I imagine the flying lever hit the line space switch at some point and busted the part that supports/holds the indicator. Attempts to make a support failed. The switch works, but no strip. If the part had been still in the cover as the strip was, it could have been glued back in place. The typical Wilhelmshaven surface rust on the plating. What were they doing on an otherwise outstanding piece of engineering? For example, the paint finish is outstandingly durable.

Typewriters are the perfect blend of using one's technical skills, history and functional purpose. My goal is type tested machines. My interests are not isolated to anyone area. For example, I am a big fan of Smith Corona electrics, mid century electrics and all things Royal.
RESEARCH NOTE: When researching the Olympia SG1 on a computer with lots of screen real estate, you may find that launching the Olympia Serial Number page and the Olympia SG1 By Model/Year/Serial page in new browser windows can give you interesting perspectives on changes throughout the model series.
