1957 Neckermann (Groma) Brillant Junior Serial # 604 009 1957 Neckermann (Groma) Brillant Junior typewriter, Serial # 604 009 Javier Vazquez del Olmo's 1957 Neckermann (Groma) Brillant Junior typewriter. 2019-09-21 From the Virtual Typewriter Collection of Javier Vazquez del Olmo: 1957 Neckermann (Groma) Brillant Junior Serial # 604 009 Nice and colorful ultra portable. The Groma Kolibri is a candidate for the title of Best Ultra Portable Ever. It's extremely light, flat and types well enough. And this Neckermann Brilliant Junior is a rebranded Groma Kolibri. Kolibris are moderately scarce in Spain, but this is the first time I see a Brilliant Junior so I couldn't let it go. Besides, a price under 30 euros is just what I needed to make a decision. A good price for a fully functional, good looking typewriter.

Something cool: the paper arm. These typewriters usually suffer from the lack of it. Appartently it's easily broken.

The number 8 key is an intruder. I bet 2 pesetas it was scrounged from a Hispano Olivetti Lexicon 80, incredibly common here and with a similar keytop shape.

The first typewriter I saw was my grandpa´s Olivetti Linea 98 at the office. It was just a curio for me. Then I was given a Nakajima, which I didn´t use and my grandfather took it from me because it was easier to handle than the bulky Linea 98. Now I own that typewriter, and I started a little collection in Valladolid, Spain. The Nakajima, which is "my" typewriter only returned home in 2017, almost 20 years later, when he wanted a better typewriter.

A collection that started small grew into something bigger, a nuisace for my family and a great source of satisfaction for me.
