Description:
Say hello to Skippy. A case queen if there ever was one. Buried amongst some large furniture on a dark loading dock, the dark case just barely caught the eye. Her RS carriage release shoulder screw left in the middle of the night rendering this beauty useless, so negotiations ensued. After sourcing a screw and passing a quick type test, the service then detail turned out nice.
But this case queen is a frustrating mess because she skips. Mostly on the left side of the type space and with the far left keys and most prominent with the "a." The interwebs reveal this is a not uncommon problem on an otherwise great machine. No it wasn't shipped or any evidence of being dropped. She is clean, clean, clean.

Typewriters are the perfect blend of using one's technical skills, history and functional purpose. My goal is type tested machines. My interests are not isolated to anyone area. For example, I am a big fan of Smith Corona electrics, mid century electrics and all things Royal.
RESEARCH NOTE: When researching the Hermes 2000 on a computer with lots of screen real estate, you may find that launching the Hermes Serial Number page and the Hermes 2000 By Model/Year/Serial page in new browser windows can give you interesting perspectives on changes throughout the model series.
