Description:
Super.
A gummed up mess that was hard to clean. The main spring was stuck, which is what sent it into the basement. The segment was tougher than most and the ribbon system as well. It doesn't take much resistance to render it inconsistent switching sides. The escapement is a howler. The rubber 'silencer' pads are hard. See the link for she howles no more.
MSRP was $129 or $37 more than a Clipper. That's equivalent in purchasing power to about $429.16 today. So much more than a marketing gimmick if you were doing serious work with a typewriter.

Typewriters are the perfect blend of using one's technical skills, history and functional purpose. My goal is type tested machines. My interests are not isolated to anyone area. For example, I am a big fan of Smith Corona electrics, mid century electrics and all things Royal.
RESEARCH NOTE: When researching the Smith Corona Super on a computer with lots of screen real estate, you may find that launching the Smith Corona Serial Number page and the Smith Corona Super By Model/Year/Serial page in new browser windows can give you interesting perspectives on changes throughout the model series.
