1956 Smith Corona Super Serial # 5T 547290 1956 Smith Corona Super typewriter, Serial # 5T 547290 Plante and Doole-Fisher Typewriters's 1956 Smith Corona Super typewriter. 2019-08-20 From the Virtual Typewriter Collection of Plante and Doole-Fisher Typewriters: 1956 Smith Corona Super Serial # 5T 547290 This Smith-Corona T5 Super portable came across my work-bench for a service. It is an ordinary T5 with Pica font, and the typical "Super" stripes on the cover, and the single-tone keyboard. The typewriter is in good mechanical and cosmetic shape, with only minor blemishes stemming forth from years of use. All in all, the preservation of this typewriter appears to have been well-worth it. However, upon disassembling the mechanism, I came to discover that the previous owner was an avid eraser user, and the mechanism appeared to contain sufficient material to glue together an entirely new eraser. There was some minor corrosion blotches present but that really isn't much more than liver spots that come with age. The case is also in very good condition. Smith-Corona carrying cases have a tendency of aging fairly poorly, but this one appeared to have lasted fairly prominently.
