1956 Smith Corona Silent Super Serial # 5T 486532X 1956 Smith Corona Silent Super typewriter, Serial # 5T 486532X Wayne Bouchard's 1956 Smith Corona Silent Super typewriter. 2024-07-23 From the Virtual Typewriter Collection of Wayne Bouchard: 1956 Smith Corona Silent Super Serial # 5T 486532X A Silent-Super typewriter in Alpine Blue with Elite No. 2 typeface and the "Holiday case". This is a later era that does not, unfortunately, have the cool accent stripes on it but it is still an excellent looker.

This typewriter came to me in pretty good shape but sticky and dirty. It took a bit just to get the type bars moving the way they were supposed to but after that, all that was left was a little shift adjustment and it's right as rain, as they say. The only real scar is a wear on the right hand carriage cover plate which is clearly from use and/or being placed next to something that provided extra wear on that point like a heavy curtain or something.

Most of the SC typewriters that I have are equipped with some form of Pica, so it is interesting to see Elite here. Frankly, the way my vision is now, I prefer Pica but Elite crams more onto a page.
