1956 Smith Corona Clipper Serial # 5A 625277 1956 Smith Corona Clipper typewriter, Serial # 5A 625277 Plante and Doole-Fisher Typewriters's 1956 Smith Corona Clipper typewriter. 2018-05-21 From the Virtual Typewriter Collection of Plante and Doole-Fisher Typewriters: 1956 Smith Corona Clipper Serial # 5A 625277 This Clipper came to me from Campbell River, B.C. in a very sad state. It had been left without a case somewhere in the past, and as such the elements had scarred it. The entire body had a mottled appearance, and rust was lifting the paint and showing through it.

After a mechanical overhaul and cleaning, the original damaged shell was replaced with one from a Sterling parts machine, and painted a poisonous shade of lime green. At that time the original brown platen knobs were swapped with later ones, and the light green shifts were swapped as well.

It has effectively been resto-modded, and is one of only a handful of machines I have attempted to repaint.

Also of note, this Clipper has a French-Canadian keyboard layout, the second one I have come across. It's from near a Canadian Forces base, so it shouldn't be a surprise.
