Description:
I purchased this Model B along with a Selectric I for $5 each at a YWCA thrift store on 1/20/2000. It worked perfectly up to the time I stopped using it in 2008. Due to years of non-use, the carriage does not advance and the carriage return does not function. The typeface specimen was made in 2000.

I have a small collection of both manual and electric typewriters (used to have more). I started collecting when I was in my late teens back in the late 80's. The first vintage typewriter that I bought was a Smith Corona Silent from around 1939. It was burgundy colored with keys that had a black background and white letters.
RESEARCH NOTE: When researching the IBM Model B on a computer with lots of screen real estate, you may find that launching the IBM Serial Number page and the IBM Model B By Model/Year/Serial page in new browser windows can give you interesting perspectives on changes throughout the model series.
