1956 Hermes Baby Serial # 5449780 1956 Hermes Baby typewriter, Serial # 5449780 Hein Reinders's 1956 Hermes Baby typewriter. 2022-06-11 From the Virtual Typewriter Collection of Hein Reinders: 1956 Hermes Baby Serial # 5449780 Hermes Baby S/N 5449780 year 1956

This Baby has been cleaned and restored, without trying to improve on the original.

10-06-2022 There are problems with uploading the gallery.

Its touch is very direct, the typeface specimen looks goods, thanks to the used ribbon it is not smeared
See the photo gallery for the nice little red-coloured pointer on the margin-sliders, the beautiful name-badge, the elaborate opening-mechanism, the chroming of some parts. This is far from the plastic Baby in my gallery.
There is a nice feature for positioning the carriage in its central position before putting the lid over it: bring the carriage a bit to the left, prevent the carriage to move to the right with your right hand while, with your left hand, push the Cr lever to the left and push the line space selector button away from you. Let go your right hand and push the carriage to the right. It will stop in the central position and go no further (without being locked to the left). Fold the CR lever and now the machine is ready for he lid to come over it.

The colour of the machine is greener than the photos in the gallery suggest.

As a retired product development engineer, I am fascinated by the design of electro-mechanical products in which parts move, make noise and, preferably, radiate a little heat. Most preferred are products that are operated by keys, like typewriters, accordeons and pianos.
My genetics and statistics on lifetime expectancy suggest that it is time for me to let you know about the fantastic design, product engineering and manuacturing skills of the generation before mine. I salute mr. Munk for the opportunity that he has created for me to show it to the world. Okay, a bit bombastic.
