Description:
Over engineered, a bit loud and not the most maintenance friendly. All these things are compensated for by how well the Gossen Tippa types. It is almost like using a 1950 Triumph Norm.
It can not be emphasized enough how much the case contributes to Gossens “office in a briefcase” concept. The case lid let you store quite some paperwork and - most important - keep it safe. The bottom plate makes the Tippa an excellent lap typer, and when used on a desk, makes sure the typewriter stays where it is.
This luxurious, high performance, flat portable came at a price, being one of the most expensive typewriters in its class.
The ad at the bottom was published in the Dutch newspaper “Algemeen Dagblad” of March 5, 1957.

I live in The Netherlands.
Most common typewriter brands over here are Triumph/Adler, Olympia, Erika, Olivetti, Remington and Brother.
I collect and restore typewriters to learn about their design and to write with them.

RESEARCH NOTE: When researching the Gossen Tippa on a computer with lots of screen real estate, you may find that launching the Gossen Serial Number page and the Gossen Tippa By Model/Year/Serial page in new browser windows can give you interesting perspectives on changes throughout the model series.
