1955 Brosette Portable Serial # 25355 1955 Brosette Portable typewriter, Serial # 25355 Laurenz van Gaalen's 1955 Brosette Portable typewriter. 2024-04-01 From the Virtual Typewriter Collection of Laurenz van Gaalen: 1955 Brosette Portable Serial # 25355 Solidly build, easy to service, reliable. The typing action is really nice but a little bit stiff, especially the top row of keys.

Unfortunately the ribbon vibrator doesn't work adequate. When feeding modern, stiff 80 gsm paper into the machine, the paper will rub against the ribbon, causing ink smear on the top of the paper. There are no issues with the ribbon during typing, however, if you leave the paper in the machine the ribbon will eventually touch the paper, leaving a couple of tiny (but highly annoying) ink stains.

This model is about half an inch deeper than the earlier model in order to make room for the bell.

I live in The Netherlands.
Most common typewriter brands over here are Triumph/Adler, Olympia, Erika, Olivetti, Remington and Brother.
I collect and restore typewriters to learn about their design and to write with them.
