Description:
I like the curvy bits and colour scheme. The logo was the first thing to catch my eye when I saw this machine. Seems like with the others here from 1954 - it needs a good cleaning. When I spun the platen, oily streaks came up so someone tried lubricating rather than cleaning... Which meat that several type bars were moving like through molasses... Otherwise, the key action is pretty sharp.

First started using a SMC Galaxie Twelve to type out and paste a zine in high school in the late 80's - I've been picking up typewriters as opportunity presents itself ever since. It's more of a casual hobby than a compulsion. Writing on a typewriter seems just the right speed for not getting ahead of what I have to say.
RESEARCH NOTE: When researching the Underwood Jewell on a computer with lots of screen real estate, you may find that launching the Underwood Serial Number page and the Underwood Jewell By Model/Year/Serial page in new browser windows can give you interesting perspectives on changes throughout the model series.
