Description:
When I started doing some research about his machine, it didnât take long to come across some familiar typewriter enthusiasts.
First one was Georg Sommeregger, he has done research and has a nice artikel written about Diana typewriters. He wrote his in 2012, some time ago.
He also refers to Oztypewiters, a page from Robert Messenger, also from 2012.
Both pages are linked below.
It seems that both pages could use some updating about the Diana Schreibmaschinenfabrik G.M.G.H. and Royal Schreibmaschine G.m.b.H /Royal McBee,
located in NĂŒrnberg, in Mannheim and in the Netherlands.
Since the articles were written, more Diana typewriters were registered here.
The oldest Diana ( S/N 12963 )from 1952 has a decal on the back from the Royal Schreibmaschinen G.mb.H. NĂŒrnberg,
but is located at a different address than the "Diana Schreibmaschinenfabrik G.m.b.H. NĂŒrnberg.
There might have been two production locations in NĂŒrnberg
There is a 1957 Diana registered (S/N 44368), that is the last one to have a decal on the back with the Diana Scheibmaschinenfabrik G.M.B.H. , located in Mannheim.
The second Diana from 1957 (S/N 60548) is from Georg Sommeregger that has got a decal from Royal McBee Mannheim.
It looks like the Diana Schreibmaschinenfabrik ceased operations in 1957, from that time onwards only the name Royal McBee was used.
I have found some history about the production facility located in NĂŒrnberg.
It was owned by one family and typewriter production was just a part of its history.
Strangely enough the name Royal or Royal McBee doesnât appear to have been a tenant holding the lease.
A link to the history of the production facility below.
â1941 und 1942, dann wieder 1949 â 1952 lĂ€sst sich als Mieterin/Nutzerin nachweisen: Fa. Orga â A. G. Berlin, Fabrik NĂŒrnberg oder Orga-A.
âIn 1941 and 1942, and then again from 1949 to 1952, the tenant/user can be verified as:
Orga â A. G. Berlin, Fabrik NĂŒrnberg or Orga-A. G. Schreibmaschinenfabrik (we will not go into the history of Orga Schreibmaschinenfabrik in detail here, but we have material on it).
Diana Schreibmaschinenfabrik GmbH followed from 1953 to 1957.
From 1958, the building at Muggenhofer StraĂe 28 was the "TRIUMPH branch, formerly Orga," and the GRUNDIG Radio-Werke company announced that it had rented the entire building. Triumph BĂŒromaschinen used the entire building as the headquarters of its technical customer service department, i.e., as a repair shop and training center. In 1987, the lease with Triumph-Adler was terminated.

Hello,
Typerwriterfan from the Netherlands, recently bought a few typewriters again and started cleaning and adjusting them.
I haven't touched a typewriter in a long time, but it's fun working with them again.
This is a great database and I will try to contribute too.
Have a nice day,
RESEARCH NOTE: When researching the Royal Diana on a computer with lots of screen real estate, you may find that launching the Royal Serial Number page and the Royal Diana By Model/Year/Serial page in new browser windows can give you interesting perspectives on changes throughout the model series.
