Description:
This is an older model SM3 with the angled card holders and smaller shift keys. Yeah, it's pretty dirty and definitely needs some time on the bench for a tune up. But even in its bedraggled state, it's a nice typer! The card holder sometimes snags on the end of the carriage, but just needs a little adjustment. The carriage bushings are workable, and even the feet are okay. Will this be the machine on which I write the great detective noir story that's been in my head for far too long?

I fell down the analog hobby rabbithole and have no intention of climbing out. As a child, I wrote my school research papers on the 1946 Smith-Corona Silent that my father used to get through law school. By the time I went to law school, new-fangled computers were all the rage. But I kept my dad's Smith-Corona. In the decades since, I've found a few other typewriters and use them to write fiction for fun and pose them with the film cameras to which I am hopelessly addicted.
RESEARCH NOTE: When researching the Olympia SM3 on a computer with lots of screen real estate, you may find that launching the Olympia Serial Number page and the Olympia SM3 By Model/Year/Serial page in new browser windows can give you interesting perspectives on changes throughout the model series.
