Description:
This Olympia SM2 from 1954 has been repainted by Gerren of Hotrod Typewriters. He used Elixir Supershift paint, which changes colors between blue, purple and gold depending on the viewing angle and the angle of the ambient light. I requested this particular paint since these are some of my favorite color combinations.
It’s an amazing effect. Sometimes it looks almost entirely purple or entirely blue, but typically it’s some mixture of them both that is hard to describe and even harder to capture in photos or video. It’s also very glossy and smooth, so it feels great to the touch.
I can understand having some misgivings about repainting typewriters, and there are some machines that I would never consider repainting. But this is a true work of art. I would bet that Gerren is one of the few people in the world who has the expertise necessary to really pull something like this off.

I'm relatively new to typewriter collecting, but am rapidly making up for lost time...
