Description:
Magnificent, barely used specimen of the Studio 44.
After years and years in its case on my attic, no oil, no gum, no repair required.
Superb engineering design, featuring a separate carriage unit with its own subframe in which rollers guide the carriage.
Carriage guide is similar to the Facit 1620: sideways along a tubular guide and and a third guide to prevent rotation around the tube axis
Full metal housing, and frames in the finest of high pressure aluminium casting fashion.
43 character keys
The case is 34 cm wide, 41 cm deep (!) 16 cm heigh. A 9 kilo desktop portable (?)
Type face: Elite 12cpi (not sure)
For dramatic pictures, see the Studio 44 gallery of Paolo del Chiele # 821624 and # 905620

As a retired product development engineer, I am fascinated by the design of electro-mechanical products in which parts move, make noise and, preferably, radiate a little heat. Most preferred are products that are operated by keys, like typewriters, accordeons and pianos.
My genetics and statistics on lifetime expectancy suggest that it is time for me to let you know about the fantastic design, product engineering and manuacturing skills of the generation before mine. I salute mr. Munk for the opportunity that he has created for me to show it to the world. Okay, a bit bombastic.
