Description:
Still works and types well, despite its shabby appearance. As expected with Japanese typewriters, this one has its slugs placed horizontally, allowing it to type the characters sideways, mimicking the way traditional Japanese documents were written by hand, that is from top to bottom, right to left.

I'm an archaeologist who writes heritage books and collects Japanese ceramics as well as quite a number of typewriters that I've acquired through purchase or as gifts over the last 10 years in the Philippines as well as in the US and Japan.
I'm currently a visiting professor at a university in Japan and it is heaven here to see so many typewriters being auctioned online!
RESEARCH NOTE: When researching the Nakajima ALL Aspeed on a computer with lots of screen real estate, you may find that launching the Nakajima ALL Serial Number page and the Nakajima ALL Aspeed By Model/Year/Serial page in new browser windows can give you interesting perspectives on changes throughout the model series.
