1954 Blue Bird 18 Serial # 707258 1954 Blue Bird 18 typewriter, Serial # 707258 Zachary Thompson's 1954 Blue Bird 18 typewriter. 2021-08-08 From the Virtual Typewriter Collection of Zachary Thompson: 1954 Blue Bird 18 Serial # 707258 Purchased from Ken C. out of Pennslyvania in Spring 2021, who bought it from R. Polt at a meet-up in West Virginia a few years prior. Ken smoked cloves at the time so this Blue Bird has a rich, pleasant aroma. I had to bend the back panel back true to fix the margin release, but it was in perfect mechanical shape. Hard platen affected my type sample below. No case for it (yet), but I wouldn't put it away much if I had one.
