1954 Adler Privat Serial # 3028071 1954 Adler Privat typewriter, Serial # 3028071 Robert Lehmann's 1954 Adler Privat typewriter. 2023-03-03 From the Virtual Typewriter Collection of Robert Lehmann: 1954 Adler Privat Serial # 3028071 The Adler Privat is one of the most overengeneered Machines i ever had in my fingers. the frame is made of massive cast alloy, and it feels very worthy in haptic and typing.
This machine has a typeset with some mathmatic expressions, as you can see on the typeface sample.
In typing it is very direct and snappy, the carriage moves as smooth as on the FACIT machines.
Adler used here a differend way of segmentshifting, The segment rises up when writing captal letters, instead of dropping down as it is common on other machines.
On the right side there is a lever to declutter stuck types, which ich very comfortable in use.
The design is pure and the carriage lever for me a piece of art itself.
I can recomend this thing for heavy writing.
On more feature is the case, here you can lengten the strap for the handle, so it can be used as a shoulderstrap.
My machine works fine, but will need a good clean and of course a new ribbon which will be black and red.

Are typewriters my destiny ?
Maybe.
I live in Germany and i am hosting about 70 Machines which i try to use regulary.
Typewriting is for me recreation and a timetravel into history.
My oldest machine is an Oliver 5 from 1913 and my youngest is something from the 90's.
Do i have favourites ? yes, the ERIKA M, the ADLER Privat, and all of these cute 3-bank portables.
Sometimes you can find me at the Typepals meeting on sundays
Many greetings from Germans and keep typing
Robert
