Description:
This machine was a pleasure to restore except for the left platen knob assembly, that was a pain and required some finagling to get working, but besides that, this machine was fun to fix. this typewriter is shockingly similar to most of my current Smith Corona portable typewriters with only minor differences between them, and with this similarity and the machines being made so good and the fact that these machines just feel great to use, its no wonder why they kept the design so long. this particular machine actually came with its original owners manual witch is pretty neat. O, and I also had an idea for the typewriter database, I think it would be pretty neat if there was a section to cataloging what owners manuals go to witch machines and then photographing the manuals and having a section for those pictures so anyone could look up the owners Manuel of there machine and read it, that would be nice to see added here.

RESEARCH NOTE: When researching the Smith Corona Sterling on a computer with lots of screen real estate, you may find that launching the Smith Corona Serial Number page and the Smith Corona Sterling By Model/Year/Serial page in new browser windows can give you interesting perspectives on changes throughout the model series.
