Description:
YAQDL -- it sounds Aztec but it is just Yet Another Quiet De Luxe. This belonged to a friend who got it new. It works well. It has the Speed Control, the knob on the left side that is supposed to let you control the speed of advance of the carriage; we’ll see. Also Magic Margin, which does work and will get better with exercise.
This one has a big sticker under the ribbon cover that notes: “Made in Canadaâ€.

While I find all of mankind's inventions interesting, I am most enchanted by the human-scale arts and devices, the ones that can be created (and repaired) in a home workshop or studio; the ones that can be understood by looking at them; the ones that do something useful or stir admiration. Typewriters work for me.
RESEARCH NOTE: When researching the Royal Quiet De Luxe on a computer with lots of screen real estate, you may find that launching the Royal Serial Number page and the Royal Quiet De Luxe By Model/Year/Serial page in new browser windows can give you interesting perspectives on changes throughout the model series.
