1953 Royal Quiet De Luxe Serial # RA-2733351 1953 Royal Quiet De Luxe typewriter, Serial # RA-2733351 Michael Hoehne's 1953 Royal Quiet De Luxe typewriter. 2018-07-05 From the Virtual Typewriter Collection of Michael Hoehne: 1953 Royal Quiet De Luxe Serial # RA-2733351 YAQDL -- it sounds Aztec but it is just yet another Quiet De Luxe. This belonged to a friend who got it new. It works well. It has the Speed Control, the knob on the left side that is supposed to let you control the speed of advance of the carriage; we'll see. Also Magic Margin, which does work and will get better with exercise.

This one has a big sticker under the ribbon cover that notes: “Made in Canadaâ€.

While I find all of mankind's inventions interesting, I am most enchanted by the human-scale arts and devices, the ones that can be created (and repaired) in a home workshop or studio; the ones that can be understood by looking at them; the ones that do something useful or stir admiration. Typewriters work for me.
