1952 Smith Corona Sterling Serial # 5A425329 1952 Smith Corona Sterling typewriter, Serial # 5A425329 Gerald Ambrose's 1952 Smith Corona Sterling typewriter. 2019-04-13 From the Virtual Typewriter Collection of Gerald Ambrose: 1952 Smith Corona Sterling Serial # 5A425329 So, I went into one of the antique stores I frequent after not going for a couple of weeks and I looked into a stall and spotted a closed tweed case. The tag was a welcoming sight of $36! Upon opening the case I found a nice, slightly smudged Smith-Corona Sterling. I have to admit that I had hoped it would be a Silent, but I'm not complaining.

Testing it out it worked well, and I decided that I was bringing home another typewriter.
It came with a BUD type cleaner that is slightly dried out. The sticker says it was priced on '11 - 76 - 4,' for .69, as well as a small Smith-Corona brush.

Once home getting it out of the case, I spotted a dealer/service sticker with 'C & A Business Machines West Hartford, CT; it seems that the business went out not too long ago.

The odd thing is that this machine was hit, probably while in the case, on the left side, as there is a sizable dent, but it does not affect the machine's function.

I started collecting typewriters several years ago and it started with a late 1960s Smith-Corona Sterling portable that I got as a gift.
