Here's a 1952 Royal Quiet De Luxe with a typeface that I believe Royal called Contemporary Elite, a sans serif design. Matt at ACE TYPEWRITERS in PDX sold it to me, and says he believes the R in the serial number indicates it was a custom, special order.
I adore it. It types like a dream.

I'm a new collector. Currently, I'm putting together a Closed (meaning limited number of machines) collection of portables. I've set the number at 6, but am having so much fun it may spread to 8 or 10.
I tend to buy from dealer-refurbishers, since I write on these things, I'm getting old, and i just don't have the time to go on safari for the bangers I want
